OUR STORY

WHO WE ARE

Purr Haven Cats is a personal advocacy dedicated to the rescue, foster and re-homing of abandoned, stray and abused cats. Majority of the cats we rescue are newborn kittens or pregnant cats on the streets of Metro Manila, Philippines.

We are currently raising funds to build a cat sanctuary. Once we have the building in place, we can register Purr Haven as a non-profit organization to make everything official.

OUR HISTORY

​

Purr Haven Cats was born in 2014 by Nyree who have always had a heart for animals.  Her heart breaks every time she see cats and kittens on the streets, starving, asking for food, sick, abused and in so many cases, abandoned and left to die.  She started bringing cat food with her whenever she goes out and would feed the stray cats she sees.

​

When she rescued her first kitten, the animal shelters she called were full to the brim and could not take in new cats. She didn’t have the heart to leave the kitten behind so she took the kitten into her home. Since then, she has rescued several cats from the streets, mostly pregnant cats or kittens. She cleaned them, fed them, brought them to the vet clinic and showered them with love. The lack of facility did not deter her.

Today, there are 35 rescued cats and kittens under her care. All are housed in her and her husband’s bedroom. Some have been adopted into loving homes. The cats are uncaged, free to run and roam around as they please.

However, there is an urgent need to find a new place for the cats. She will need a piece of land to build the sanctuary and register it as a non-profit organization to make everything official. With your help, we can all build a cat sanctuary for the rescued cats.

OUR MISSION

Purr Haven Cats’ mission is to improve the quality of life of cats and to place them into loving and permanent homes through rescue, extraordinary and compassionate care and humane education. We aim to  humanely address the problem of cat overpopulation through rescue and Spay/Neuter programs.

OUR VISION

​

Purr Haven Cat Sanctuary envisions to build the first ever cat sanctuary in the Philippines. We envision a Philippines where every cat has a permanent and loving home, every cat is spayed or neutered, and all cats are treated with respect and compassion.

OUR GOALS

​

• Build the First Ever Cat Sanctuary in the Philippines.
  The Philippines is a developing country and still has a long way to go in terms of animal welfare. There are only a handful shelters in the country and most of the stray animals end up in pounds which are, at most, unsanitary and the animals aren’t cared for properly – majority of these animals are euthanized. Purr Haven Cats longs to help improve this situation by building the first cat sanctuary in the country where street cats can be taken and cared for, rehabilitated, spayed/neutered and can live their lives while we look for loving homes for them.
  
  

• Run Trap, Neuter&Return (TNR) Programs
  We believe that TNR is the most humane way to help reduce animal over population. Our goal is to work with local government departments and established, local animal welfare groups to run TNR programs in communities.
  
  

• Organize Events, Seminars and Talks about Animal Welfare and Pet Responsibility
  Education plays an important key in reducing animal overpopulation. We plan to organize and hold events in schools and communities to educate about Animal Welfare, the benefits of TNR and pet responsibility to increase awareness and community support for fostering, adoption and trap-neuter-return (TNR).
